Local Artist Selected for Grand View Lodge Wine LabelsThe weekend kicked off on Friday with the Robert Sinskey Vineyards Wine Dinner with special guest host Robert Sinskey. Local Artist Selected for Grand View Lodge Wine LabelsThe de’Vine Artwalk followed the Grand Tasting and gave attendees a first-handed opportunity to vote their favorite canvas from the top 10 submitted. The final artwork chosen was from local artist, Maralee Gazelka.

Maralee’s ‘Moonlight Reflections’ was chosen for the 2014 Chardonnay vintage label and was inspired by a photo she took from a friends home on Gull Lake off of Hunter’s Point, while the ‘Restful Moments’ will be featured on the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon vintage, which was inspired during a quiet, peaceful walk on a beautiful fall day with her husband Paul.

Local Artist Selected for Grand View Lodge Wine LabelsMaralee not only will have her artwork featured on both vintages, but will also receive one case of each wine, a $200 Gift Card to Grand View Lodge, and a certificate noting her creation and achievement.

The evening concluded with the talented Divas Through the Decades which is a musical tribute to some of the most influential female vocalists in American pop music, featuring songs from the 40’s, through today’s current hits! The weekend wrapped up with an exclusive Champagne Brunch Demo in Cru Restaurant and Wine Bar on Sunday morning.

Calling All Local Artists – Canvas Designs Needed for Grand View Wine Labels

Grand View Lodge is pleased to announce its 2nd Annual de’Vine Culinary & Wine Event, sponsored by MN Monthly Magazine, to be held February 7th – 9th. This year will feature an Artwalk on Saturday afternoon, February 8th from 4:00p.m.-5:00p.m.

The de’Vine Artwalk will follow the de’Vine Grand Tasting and give attendees a first-handed opportunity to vote their favorite canvas from the top 20 submitted. The final artwork chosen will be featured on the 2014 Grand View Wine bottles – including both the Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon vintages.

Last year alone, Grand View sold over 3,000 bottles of the Grand View signature wine at its seven restaurants, events, weddings and group functions. And after several guest requests, the signature wines were made available for retail purchase in the Twin Cities exclusively at Liquor Boy last January. Liquor Boy has been in business since November 2012 and is located at 5620 Cedar Lake Rd, St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Last year’s winner, Jerry Raedeke of Nisswa, work was displayed on both bottles one depicting birch trees at sunset next to the water and another featured Norway pines on the corner of a lake. Although these labels depicted landscapes in a watercolor format, there is no limitation on creativity. The contest is open to all styles of artwork – modern, art deco, landscape and abstract, and should depict scenes and/or impressions of Minnesota.

We ask all artists to contact us that they are working on submissions and leave contact information. Artwork should be 8” x 9.25” in size and signed with a small description noted on the back. If chosen as one of the top 20, artists’ canvases will be enlarged to 3’ x 5’ displays for the Artwalk voting segment. All entries must be done by January 1st, 2014. Please contact Christine Iannelli at 218-963-2234 ext. 1403 or by email at Christine.Iannelli@granviewlodge.com.

If you love great wine and food, get your taste buds ready for this special weekend! Grand View’s 1st annual winter wine weekend offers a variety of flavorful fun, education, and of course, more than enough wine. Just over 110 vintages to be exact.

The event kicks off Saturday, January 26th with an afternoon of culinary and wine seminars, classes and demos. Our friends from Cooks of Crocus Hill will be running a demonstration called “Risotto 3 Ways” where they will demo proper cooking procedures, recipes, hints and tips and, most importantly, the opportunity to taste these exquisite flavors. Other classes will include Reading French Wine Labels, Sushi Making and Saki Tasting, Discovering Italian Wines, Cheese Tastings and more.

Following the afternoon seminars, classes and demos, we invite everyone to our wine cellarand restaurant, Cru, for a soup tasting and a chance to experience some of our finer wines among the area’s intimate atmosphere.

Saturday evening is the real taste bud kicker – The de’Vine Grand Tasting. Attendees will taste over 100 wines from reps and distributors throughout the state and help you discover new flavors and wine favorites. To compliment the tantalizing wine, four of our restaurants will demo several culinary delights and heavy appetizers at each display, allowing each individual to pair and contrast some exceptional combinations.

Following the Grand Tasting, attendees can retreat to a campfire seminar dedicated to a special s‘more tasting and port wine discussion. Others can relax and discuss as we prepare for the final dueling piano show from Crazy Keys.

Furthermore, those who RSVP early will have the ability to participate in two very special and unique events that have very limited seating. Friday night we are honored to have Christophe Hedges from Hedges Family Estates in Washington joining our very own Executive Chef Michael Manders for an incredible wine dinner—five wines with five courses for an additional $70 per person. And on Sunday morning, join Cooks of Crocus Hill and Laurent-Perrier for an exclusive Champagne Brunch Demo in Cru for an additional $25 per person.

Excluding the special events, the weekend is only $199 per person, which includes lodging and breakfast each morning. This also includes one of Grand View’s signature wines and a special gift from us. For those who already have cabins in the area, the Saturday Event pass is only $95 per person.
