Snow Much Fun!

12winter_header

Winter has finally arrived and with it, the magical ingredient – snow! We are excited to announce we have a jam-packed line up of winter activities that will be sure to please. Now the only ingredient missing is you!

The Pines Winter Recreation Center is now open and offers snowshoes and cross country ski rentals, so guests can meander through the trees and see the beauty of winter at it’s finest. Or if you prefer to ride through the scenery, Dog sled rides, family sleigh rides and the romantic Un Cheval (one horse sleigh) rides will be available throughout the winter weekends.

The beach may no longer be a place to catch a tan, but it still offers plenty of fun activities including a lighted broomball rink behind the Clubhouse Suite and a lighted skating and hockey rink on both Gull and Roy Lake. Icehouses, such as ‘Lil Grand View’ featured on WCCO last year, are also available for rent at an additional cost.

If you’re still craving more, there are many exciting opportunities offsite. Mt. Ski Gull, located just down the road from us, offers downhill skiing, snowboarding and tubing. Show your key card upon arrival and receive a 15% discount on your day of fun! If you feel the need for speed, hop on a snowmobile and meander through the woods. Check out our friends, Boats & Beyond Rental, for all your snowmobile needs!

At the end of the day, stop by M.V. Bakers for some delicious s’mores before going back to your “home away from home” to cozy up next to the fireplace and reminisce on your Grand View winter adventure.

Discover Summer

Spending your summer at Grand View is now better than ever with the addition of several new waterfront features and upgrades.

This spring, Grand View extended the hours of our popular lakeside-dining venue, Loony’s Beach Hut. Loony’s will now be serving their famous “beachside” fare from 11:00am to 8:00pm allowing all beach and lake-goers the opportunity to get their late night fix of Walleye Tacos or enjoy a cold cocktail at the bar which is now open until 10pm. Plan a fun evening at Loony’s Beach BBQ available every Wednesday from 5:30pm-7:00pm. You can sit back and enjoy the rest of your evening watching the sunset or sitting around a bonfire, without ever having to leave the lake.

Another exciting addition is our latest docking system for boats. Our new multi-slip “T-dock” can hold up to 10 boats, allowing shelter from the waves that are commonly known to the north side of Gull Lake. This new dock system will make it easier for our guests and “friends of the lake” to stop by for a quick lunch or evening cocktail and dock their boat at ease with the assistance of our friendly and knowledgeable waterfront staff.

Whether you’re a guest at Grand View or have a cabin on the lake, make sure to stop by to see us and enjoy all of the flavors and libations we have to offer. We’ll try and help keep the summer around as long as possible.

The Walleye Tacos at Loony’s are a beach favorite especially when paired with an ice cold beverage!

Italian Gardens – the Little Italy of Grand View Lodge

Located on the west side of the Main Property

The flower gardens flourish around the Italian Gardens making for incredible colors and scents. Must be the italian cooking!

They may be far from Europe, but Italian Gardens offers family-style dining with authentic homemade Italian and Sicilian fare prepared by the talented Chef de Cuisine Matt Bankey.

Chef Bankey, who started cooking at the young age of 16, has been creating signature Italian dishes for the last 5 of the 11 years Italian Gardens has been open. A gentleman by the name of George Mauer first built the unique and cozy building to house him on his fishing excursions and in the 1950s Anna Hanson purchased the building and used it as a gift shop.

While the building of Italian Gardens has it’s own story to tell, so does the food. Chef Bankey’s forte lies within his nightly specials, which he coins “anything and everything” Italian. If you’re craving a true Italian dining experience, Italian Gardens has just the menu and nightly special for you, reflecting dishes that have been perfected since the origin of their creation in Italy.

“Mama Mia” is Italian Garden’s summer long special which includes a starter, salad, choice of three entrees and dessert, all served family style. There are also the traditional à la cart entrée features or if pizza is your fancy, they offer fresh hand-tossed take-out all summer long!

Great Italian food always must be accompanied by great Italian wine. Not only does Italian Gardens offer the proper wine to food pairings, but they also offer a unique tasting experience with wine flights, offering a sampling of three Italian wines with your meal.

Whether you decide to dine bistro style overlooking the vineyard or outdoor patio style, Italian Gardens welcomes you to dine with them this summer! They are open every Tuesday-Sunday 5:30-9:00pm.

Summer Hydration

With the long days of sunshine and summer fun finally here, your skin might be in need of a little extra hydration! Grand View’s Glacial Waters Spa has just the nirvana treatment for you!

Our Glacial Waters Spa houses what is called a Vichy Shower, a system comprised of seven showerheads which runs parallel to a cushioned treatment table and showers the body, mimicking a true rainfall.

A treatment that typically follows a body scrub or wrap, the Vichy increases the benefits of products recently absorbed by your skin. Additionally, it reduces toxins and waste; improves your elimination system; stimulates the skin drawing blood to the surface, boosting your immune system; hydrates your body; improves skin and muscle tone and reduces your stress response through skin nerve stimulation.

The Vichy Shower’s origin comes from Vichy, a town in central France known for its natural mineral springs. Nowadays, the Vichy Shower is considered a true versatile treatment, allowing the massage therapist to adjust each head in temperature and pressure to better accommodate each guest’s specific needs.

We invite you to experience the Glacial Waters Spa Vichy services and rehydrate your dry, summer skin. All treatments include a 30 minute Vichy Shower, in addition to a massage or scrub, such as the Grand Renewal or Calming Waters.  However, the Signature Glacial Rain is the ultimate hydration service, which includes a massage, Vichy Shower, and Shirodhara, a steady stream of warmed oil flowing onto your third eye.

Come experience the rejuvenating effects of water today! Now through July 31st, try any Vichy service for 20% off . (Just mention this article to receive this offer! Not valid with other offers.)

Swing Into Spring with Golf Week

Golfers get ready. Grand View Lodge will be celebrating Golf Week May 28th through June 11th.  Dedicating two weeks to the world of golf and the people that love game, the resort will feature a two day tournament, grand opening and ribbon cutting by Fred Boos of the new Lakes 9 at The Pines, golf specials and theme days as well as the introduction of Grand View Lodge’s new online booking app for mobile phones, websites and Facebook.

Festivities will kick off Monday the 28th with a ribbon cutting by Fred Boos at the New Lakes 9 at The Pines.  Fred Boos changed the face of golf forever in the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1990 when he brought in legendary golf architect, Joel Goldstrand, to build a championship course.  One of three of the resort’s renowned courses, The Pines, will open its Lakes 9 course for the first time this year with new renovations including restricted tee boxes on 14 holes, scenic rock walls, added yardage and major enhancements to the property’s signature hole, Lakes #7.

The ribbon cutting will be followed by the Lodge’s 21st Annual Fred-Mark Charity Invitational, taking place Monday, May 28th through Tuesday, May 29th at the property’s championship courses, The Pines, The Preserve and Deacon’s Lodge.  Proceeds from this event will benefit Bridges of Hope, a faith-based nonprofit organization which links families to community supports and resources.  The two-day tournament will feature putting contests, tee prizes, as well as silent and live auction items including sporting event tickets, resort stays, memorabilia and leisure packages.

“Golf has always been an important aspect of Grand View Lodge.  Therefore, we wanted to create an event that showed golfers not only our appreciation for the game, but also showcase the newest amenities and services that we have to offer,” said Jack Wawro,  head pro at The Pines at Grand View Lodge.  “From our newest renovations and tournaments to our online application and special prices, we want to show our guests and the public that we love the game just as much as they do.”

Other activities taking place include, the release of Grand View Lodge’s new online booking app for mobile phones, websites and Facebook, allowing golfers to make their tee times, receive specials and track their play throughout the year.  The app is available for free download from any mobile app store, search GrandViewGolf or via grandviewgolf.com and the resort’s Facebook page.

Furthermore, discounted prices and free clinics will be offered for young golfers as well as theme days and specials at each of the property’s championship courses.  At the main property, Lodge employees will be dressed to honor the great game with a variety of golf-themed activities, including special menu items at several onsite restaurants and golf-themed spa specials.

Get ready to hit the links for this 14 day celebration. Affordable Golf Week packages and rates are available online at www.grandviewlodge.com or call 866-801-2951 to book now.
